James Koraro is the head of people and culture at Transnep Insurance Brokers, based in Nairobi.

Prior to joining Transnep Insurance Brokers in September 2025, James worked at Highlands Drinks from March to September 2025, where he served as an HR business partner, supporting HR reporting, people strategy, learning and development and talent management.

James previously spent over six years at Zamara Kenya, where he held several roles across talent acquisition, HR reporting and special projects. Most recently, he served as senior advisor for talent acquisition, development and special projects from January 2024 to March 2025, advising leadership on recruitment across Kenya and the wider African region, employee development, performance management, diversity and inclusion, employee wellbeing and HR analytics.

Earlier, he worked as an advisor and human resources assistant, supporting talent acquisition, learning and development, HR reporting, policy implementation and people service delivery.

He began his HR career through internships and volunteer roles at the Judicial Service Commission of Kenya, Nakuru Water, Sewerage and Sanitation Services Company, and Rift Valley Provincial General Hospital, gaining early experience in HR administration and service delivery.

James holds a bachelor of business administration in human resources management from Mount Kenya University. He also has a diploma and a craft certificate in human resource management from Kisumu National Polytechnic.
