She steps into her new role after serving in senior HR positions in Kenya and in international assignments in Dubai and the Accor AMEAT region.
Mbithe Wambua has been appointed as the regional human resources director for Serena Hotels Africa. She brings over 15 years of experience in human resources across the hospitality sector.
Mbithe began her career in human resources at the National Bank of Kenya and Career Directions, before moving into hospitality with pre-opening HR roles at Sankara Nairobi, Autograph Collection by Marriott. She later joined Fairmont Hotels & Resorts, where she held senior positions including cluster director of human resources (talent & culture) for Kenya, director of talent & culture and group director of human resources.
Her earlier assignments at Fairmont included human resources officer positions across multiple properties and taskforce roles, such as acting human resources manager at Fairmont Mount Kenya Safari Club and taskforce recruitment manager at Fairmont Dubai.
She also served in various capacities with Accor Hotels, including master trainer and remote recruitment manager for the AMEAT region, supporting international leadership programmes and regional talent acquisition.
Mbithe holds an MSc in management & organisational development from USIU – Africa (2023–2024), an executive MBA from JKUAT (2013–2014), a higher national diploma in human resources from the College of Human Resource Management (2009) and a BCom in human resources management from The Catholic University of Eastern Africa (2004–2008).
