She joins the microfinance institution from Pride Microfinance, where she spent nearly 12 years in progressively senior people leadership roles, most recently serving as people and culture partner.
Esther Kembabazi Kahumuza has been appointed CHRO at ASA Microfinance Uganda, effective July 2026.
In her new role, she will lead the institution's people strategy as it continues to scale its operations and strengthen an inclusive and high-performing workplace culture.
Before joining ASA Microfinance Uganda, Esther served as people and culture partner at Pride Microfinance, where she led the organisation's culture transformation journey and oversaw the implementation of culture transformation tools across the business.
She also held several other leadership roles during her nearly 12-year tenure at Pride Microfinance, including people and culture partner-business and certified human resource analyst, human capital manager, and HR officer for planning and systems.
Earlier in her career, Esther served as a human resources administrative assistant at African Field Epidemiology Network (AFENET) and briefly as HR officer for welfare at Threeways Shipping Services Group.
She holds an MBA from the East and Southern African Management Institute, and a bachelor's degree in industrial and organisational psychology from Makerere University. She is also professionally affiliated with the American Academy of Project Management.
