Mumbi Kahindo is the chief people officer at Absa Bank Kenya.

She joined Absa Bank Kenya as chief people officer in 2021 after more than a decade in senior human resources leadership roles across banking, professional services and global organisations.

Before assuming her current role, Mumbi served as head of leadership development for Absa Group’s Africa Regional Operations.

Earlier, she was head of leadership, learning, talent and culture at Barclays Kenya, where she partnered with business leaders to strengthen workforce capabilities and prepare teams for evolving business demands. Prior to that, she served as senior HR business partner, supporting the bank’s operations and technology division.

Before joining the banking sector, Mumbi built extensive experience at Deloitte. Her career there spanned regional, global and leadership positions covering learning and development, talent management, HR operations and business partnering. She worked in both East Africa and the United States, contributing to global learning standards, leadership development programmes, diversity initiatives and organisational design projects. She also played a role in regional talent management and led HR support for multiple business units across East Africa.
